Perspective

My experience has taught me that the world has a great deal to offer to those looking for what they want. Many people my age have become obsessed with a pattern that’s sadly become the norm. Graduate and commit yourself to a career or job that won’t result in happiness. I love art because there is so much to be done, learned, and explored within the industry. The value of art will never be less than one of the most critical aspects of our society, and I pledge to immerse myself in its world to learn all I can and make it accessible to all that search for its beauty.

About Me

I am proud to introduce myself as a young Venezuelan woman. Growing up in a country with so much poverty and danger gives me an unexpected edge when it comes to my perspective of “the American dream.” While I am fortunate enough to have grown up in a loving home with parents who focus on enriching my life with art and culture, our experiences in our home country were limited. Transitioning during my move to Miami, Florida at the age of ten years old was extremely difficult but I grew into gaining an appreciation for the freedoms that were now available to me as I matured. As an educational tool, art has the power to illustrate the history, help develop one’s emotional intelligence, and of course, promote creativity. More efforts should be made to globalize fine-arts institutions, to make these situations inclusive and available to the entirety of the general public, open the small circle that is the art world and incorporate new voices. I believe it is time to take into account the voices of those who may not even feel worthy of telling a story. With each domain within the world of fine arts lies strength in the unfurling of a message. I want to take it upon myself to inspire my peers to view art as an escape but also as a manifestation of the reality we inhabit, for the common good. To me, the ability to have the opportunity to pursue this is an immeasurable advantage I gained by immigrating to the United States.
